Kicking off the season, the boys varsity basketball team won both of the two games they participated in this last weekend. The team went up against Class B schools, Shelby and Choteau. The games were entertaining and much needed to get the season off on the right track.
The first game, against Shelby, was an amazing game to start off the B-ball season. The game started off slow but quickly advanced into a fast-paced game just as promised. The first quarter ended with a score of 16 – 5, Huskies in the lead. By intermission, Belt jumped up 19 points while only letting the Coyotes score 5. This let the halftime score be 35-10. The Huskies stayed at a nice and easy pace with the game ending at 71 – 42.
The second contest started out quickly and smoothly while being up against the Sugar Beaters. During the first quarter, the score was already up to 23 while the Beaters were at 10. At halftime, Belt was well on their way to another win, leading 47 – 19. The second was much like the first, as Belt coasted to an 86- 58. Michael Gaylord led the offense, scoring 28 out of the 86 points.
Last night, the boys travelled north to the Bear Paws to battle the two-time defending state champions, the Box Elder Bears. In a close match, the Huskies emerged with the victory by a final margin of 47-43.
The 2025-26 season is off to a great start for Coach Paulson and the boys; as of the moment, the team has won 3 out of the 3 games played.
