On June 24th at around 12:20 am, officers responded to reports of a potential stabbing near Central Ave and 7th St. The victim was taken to the Benefis Health System Emergency Department for treatment, and two individuals were apprehended in connection with the incident. In response to the situation, GFPD officers, detectives, and deputies from the Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office cordoned off the area, restricting access to 7th St from 1st Ave S to 1st Ave N alleys, as well as Central Ave between 6th St and 8th St for the investigation.

Later in the day, community members may have noticed an increased police presence in the 400 block of 10th St N. This was due to the Central Montana High Risk Unit (HRU), which includes officers from the GFPD and deputies from the Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office, executing a high-risk search warrant related to the earlier stabbing incident.

Lt Fleming reports one person of interest has been taken into custody.
