The Spring of ‘26 golf wrapped up during Finals Week as five young Huskies drove, chipped, and putted their way around the Marias Valley Golf Course in Shelby against the best the Class C schools around Montana had to offer.
By virtue of a second-place finish at the Western C meet the week before, the girls team of Paisley Enos, Olivia Moran, Kate Hedstrom, and Addy Urick competed both as a unit and individually. Cliff Pethel represented Belt as an individual, the only member of the boys squad to move on to state. After a practice round on Monday, May 18th, they all hit the links.
The ladies got off to a rocky start with cold, rainy conditions, and found themselves in
last place after the first day. Seniors Enos and Moran both played at state as sophomores and were clearly team leaders this season. Those two led a charge in the final round that vaulted Belt High up the leader board to the 7th spot.
The seniors finished just out of the medals (top 15) when the dust settled on Day #2. Enos ended up tied for 19th and Moran tied for 21st:
Enos (112-96: 208)
Moran (105-106: 211)
Hedstrom (119-110: 229)
Urick (123-125: 248)
Pethel competed as an individual and also had a tough start followed by a solid Day #2. He went 92-84: 176 to finish in the 21st spot. He was Belt High’s first ever representative at the state golf meet on the boys side.
Coaches Jake Parchen and Lauren Simons did a great job guiding the kids through the season. Coach Simons noted that “The 2026 season was one for the record books with
the addition of a boys program. On top of that, each female took multiple strokes off of their PRs. The second place girls divisional finish was a team effort, and I’m proud of the boys and girls seasons and post-seasons.”
The girls team championship trophy went to the ladies from Savage, followed by Manhattan Christian and Broadus. Scobey took the boys’ crown (to go with football and boys basketball championships), again followed by Christian while Forsyth finished in the third spot.
