My name is Trevor Funseth, and I am running for House District 21, which includes Valley View, Riverview, Skyline, and Black Eagle. I am 27 years old, and I am running to bring representation to the next generation of Montanans. Young families can’t afford to buy a home to raise their children and are struggling with inflation at the grocery store. When people of my generation look at their government, they don’t see anybody their age there speaking for them. I want to show young people that we can get involved and have a say in the future of our city and state.
I am an estate and business attorney here in Great Falls. Every day, I see the impact of high costs on families, over-regulation on small businesses, and ridiculous property taxes on seniors with a fixed income. My senior clients see the same issues I am focused on – they often tell me they are heartbroken to see their kids and grandkids move away to find job opportunities or affordable housing. Ensuring the next generation can raise a family here is an issue that impacts all age groups. My knowledge of business and tax law is a strength I will have entering the legislature, and will allow me to hit the ground running to defend local businesses. I also provide volunteer services to create wills for those that cannot afford an attorney and handle guardianship proceedings for folks with dementia or a special needs child.
I am an outdoorsman. I will always defend the 2nd amendment, public lands, and hunting and fishing access. I believe we live in the greatest state in the greatest country in the world, and I want to do what I can to help preserve what we have. I believe in being tough on crime and will always support working with federal law enforcement to deport any illegal immigrants in Montana.
Great Falls is my home. I graduated from CMR and then went to MSU for college and UM for law school. I came back to Great Falls because I believe in this town. I have never been in politics before. I am not a career politician or a wealthy lobbyist with big connections. I am a young citizen with legal experience, and I want to make a difference for the next generation. I would be honored to have your vote.
