Liz Alford currently holds the title of Ms. Wheelchair Montana 2026 and is dedicated to fostering awareness for Ms. Wheelchair America, as well as advocating for individuals with disabilities. This year is particularly notable, as it marks the first occurrence in 33 years that Montana has had a delegate in this program. Liz is working to establish a community-focused initiative that addresses the specific needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

With a strong focus on accessibility, Liz plans to travel throughout the state to organize events and fundraisers in support of her advocacy efforts. She is committed to engaging with community members to understand their perspectives and the changes they would like to see implemented for people with disabilities.

Liz became paralyzed following a surgical procedure in August 2022, which resulted in her experiencing paralysis from the waist down due to an incomplete spinal cord injury at T11 and T12.

As a mother of two young children, who were only two years old and five months old at the time of her injury, Liz possesses a profound understanding of the intricacies of living with a disability. She has expressed concerns regarding the lack of awareness and education surrounding these issues, particularly when observing individuals misusing handicap parking privileges. This realization has fueled her passion for educating the public about the challenges encountered by the disabled community.

Liz’s slogan, “Make Montana Accessible,” encompasses her commitment not only to advocacy but also to promoting accessibility in public spaces, including parks and fishing access points across the state. As she embarks on this important journey, Liz is seeking sponsors to assist in funding her travels and outreach initiatives, ensuring that her voice, as well as the voices of those she represents, are effectively conveyed throughout Montana.

Please continue to follow The Great Falls Gazette, as we follow the journey of Liz Alford as Ms. Wheelchair Montana 2026.
