Louise Schmidt has endured a challenging journey over the past few years. In 2022, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and courageously underwent a lumpectomy, followed by routine checkups that indicated she was cancer-free. In March 2026, Louise started experiencing severe headaches and intense pressure in her head. Despite numerous visits to the doctor and months of discomfort, nothing seemed to alleviate her condition. In June, she became unresponsive at home, leading to a 911 call and an emergency trip to the hospital. A CT scan uncovered a tumor in her brain, and subsequent scans identified suspicious masses in her breast, lungs, and adrenal gland.
Louise has undergone two brain surgeries to relieve fluid buildup caused by the tumor and has begun radiation treatment to reduce it. Biopsies confirmed triple-negative breast cancer had spread to her brain, lungs, and adrenal gland. Currently, Louise is receiving radiation and will soon start chemotherapy. Throughout this ordeal, her husband has been by her side, unable to work while caring for her and managing the household. Louise is a custodian at West Elementary School in Great Falls, is cherished by her community, and is supported by her family every step of the way.
The financial burden of medical expenses and daily costs has become overwhelming for Louise and her family.
