The Teton County Board of Commissioners has announced an emergency speed limit of 35 MPH on Priest Butte Road, starting from its junction with US Highway 89 at Eastham Junction and extending to O’Neil Road, as well as on O’Neil Road west to Highway 287. In addition, Priest Butte Road from O’Neil Road north to US Highway 89 is closed to through traffic. These measures are in response to increased traffic on these roads due to the reconstruction of US Highway 89 by the Montana Department of Transportation, which is ongoing from the southern city limits of Choteau for a distance of six miles. The reduced speed limit is aimed at minimizing the risk of accidents on the gravel road.
