Each year, Malmstrom Air Force Base participates in the annual NeighborWorks Great Falls community cleanup event. Every squadron in the 341st Missile Wing has a designated area within the community, and participants are volunteers.
Each spring, NeighborWorks partners with Malmstrom airmen and hundreds of volunteers to bag and dispose of trash throughout Cascade County. This community-wide cleanup effort collects between 15 and 20 tons of trash each year.
Malmstrom AFB, Republic Services, and various local teams collaborated for this event, organized by NeighborWorks Great Falls, which took place on April 24th and 25th. Several groups participated this year, demonstrating pride in the community by joining the city-wide cleanup.
NeighborWorks Great Falls highlighted several contributors, including Central Montana Eyecare, who cleaned around their building and the surrounding area.
Two teams from NorthWestern Energy participated in the CommUNITY Cleanup, focusing on areas around Black Eagle and the fields near Walmart on Smelter. The Bravera team also contributed by cleaning up around Black Eagle. The Great Falls Church of Christ volunteered to pick up trash around West Bank Park, while Montana Credit Union focused on the Veterans’ Memorial.
Texas Roadhouse transformed the field next to Walmart on 10th Street, and this year, the CommUNITY Cleanup expanded to Cascade, with volunteers from Citizens Alliance Bank, the Dearborn Garden Club (Montana Garden Clubs), and ProAg joining in.
LPW Architecture, Great Falls Subaru, and other volunteers spent their morning cleaning around the Great Falls Public Library. Volunteers from Citizens Alliance Bank, the Lions Club, and Cascade Schools MT also pitched in.
Special thanks to Bill from the Lions Club and members of the Cascade Fire Department, as well as Glen from the Town of Cascade, for taking the trash bags to the dump!
Thanks to the efforts of all these teams and more, Great Falls looks significantly better.
