Great Falls Fire Rescue recently responded to two small fires within a 24-hour timeframe, showcasing their prompt and efficient response efforts.
The first incident occurred on March 12th at 8:45 a.m. at the Meadowlark Assisted Living facility, located at 1009 3rd Ave N. Firefighters arrived to find a fire that had originated on the front porch. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the cause was the improper disposal of smoking materials, which ignited the fire. Fortunately, the damages were minimal, and the residents were not displaced from their home. We reached out to the Meadowlark Assisted Living facility for further information; however, they declined to comment. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during this incident.
The second fire response took place on March 13th at 7:21 a.m. at 804 3rd Ave S. Fire crews were dispatched to a shed fire located in the backyard of this property. The house associated with this location is currently vacant, which spared it from any damage. The shed, however, sustained minor damage on the exterior and some smoke damage inside. Due to evidence suggesting that the fire was set intentionally, this case has been forwarded to the Great Falls Police Department for further criminal investigation.
