The Great Falls Gazette received reports about a large piece of debris crashing through the ceiling window of the Holiday Village Mall on Wednesday, March 25th. As the debris fell, it scattered shards of plexiglass everywhere.
“Me and my 4 year old son were walking through the mall and heard a very loud bang,” explained Nathaniel Chitwood. “So loud I thought it was a gunshot. Then, large chunks of sharp plexiglass started raining from the sky right in front of us. Had we been like even half a second faster, it would have hit us. I had knee surgery a couple months ago, so I’m still walking slow with a limp, and I guess today that saved us.”
Several community members commented on the disarray within the mall, which was built in November of 1959. Comments were made noting that it needs various repairs, including the escalators and the parking lot. Others commented on how vacant the spaces are compared to several years ago.
Please stay tuned to The Great Falls Gazette for updates as more information becomes available.
