On the night of February 11th, the Great Falls Police Department received a call regarding a disturbance. This incident prompted the issuance of both a search warrant and an arrest warrant on February 12th, when two individuals were taken into custody.
On February 12th, police were dispatched to the scene located in the 1000 block of 5th Ave S. As a precaution due to the incident’s proximity to local schools, Longfellow Elementary and Our Lady of Lourdes were placed on shelter-in-place status.
The Central Montana High Risk Unit, which consists of officers from the Great Falls Police Department and deputies from the Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office, responded to the situation. Out of an abundance of caution, several nearby residents were asked to evacuate their homes. The schools remained in shelter-in-place status until the situation was resolved.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the arrestees or the officers involved. Law enforcement remained on the scene for an extended period to execute the search warrant. Longfellow Elementary and Our Lady of Lourdes have since returned to normal operations.
