Early in the morning of January 15, 2026, at approximately 1:40 AM, 911 dispatchers received multiple reports from community members regarding gunfire in the vicinity of 38th Street North and 4th Avenue North.

Officers from the Great Falls Police Department promptly responded to the location and discovered several shell casings in the street. Witnesses provided descriptions of a specific vehicle that was seen departing the area immediately following the sound of gunfire.

During the course of the investigation, a vehicle matching the provided descriptions returned to the area, parked at a nearby residence, and two males exited the vehicle. When officers attempted to detain both individuals as part of the investigation, one of them refused to comply with the officers’ instructions. Following a confrontation, this individual was found to be in possession of a handgun.

Both males were taken into custody and transported to the Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office Adult Detention Center. The first male faces charges of criminal endangerment (felony), carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence (misdemeanor), and obstructing a peace officer (misdemeanor). The second male has been charged with criminal endangerment (felony).

No injuries were reported during this incident. Please stay tuned to The Great Falls Gazette, as we will update when more information becomes available.
