Great Falls has recently received two new prescription drug drop boxes. The Montana Department of Health and Human Services encourages you to use the drop boxes for any unwanted, unused or expired over the counter and prescription medications. Since the summer of 2010 Montanans have disposed tons of unwanted medications.
By safely and anonymously, disposing of the medications can help prevent misuse and accidental poisonings; these locations will ensure proper disposal. It is important to remember not to flush or dump old prescriptions down the drain. Medications will dissolve and can contaminate water systems and with septic tanks can leach chemicals into the environment.
You can find a Drug Drop Box at these locations: Walmart at 5320 10th Avenue South and Cascade County Sheriff’s Office at 3800 Ulm North Frontage Road. For additional information please call Prescription Drug Abuse Awareness Program at 406-444-2026.
