We received many responses to the October Survey; City Report Card. We want to thank everyone who responded to our non-scientific survey. Some of the responses were fascinating and we’re looking at questions to probe areas where people were dissatisfied with different departments. Look for additional surveys on the same theme down the road.
The City Report Card results are below(higher numbers are better, counts are averaged):
- Animal Control – 5.50 (61% approval) Grade: D
- City Managers Ofice – 2.25(25% approval) Grade: F-
- City Attorney – 4.50 (50% approval) Grade: F
- Fire Rescue – 7.25 (81% approval) Grade: B
- Library – 6.25 (69% approval) Grade: C-
- Mansfield Center – 4.25 (47% approval) Grade: F-
- Municipal Court – 4.67 (52% approval) Grade: F
- Park & Rec – 3.75 (42% approval) Grade: F-
- Planning/Community Development – 4.25 (47% approval) Grade: F-
- Police – 3.50 (39% approval) Grade: F-
- Public Sanitation – 7.00 (78% approval) Grade: C
- Road Dept – 4.75 (53% approval) Grade: C
- Water/Sewer – 7.75 (86% approval) Grade B
The overall rating was 5.05 (56% approval) or an F for a grade. We did NOT grade on a curve. Note: This survey is about public perception and not an in-depth, professional assessment. A low or high score can happen as much from how a department presents information to the public as it is about actual performance. The Gazette strongly encourages the various city departments to work with us to help keep citizens of Great Falls informed and current with what’s happening in their various departments!
The next survey will ask how you feel about this current election cycle. Look for it in the Tuesday edition of the paper next week (yes, on election day!). That survey will again have a prize for one random person. We may also start going to two surveys a month, as the response has been wonderful. If you have a great idea for a survey, let us know!
