Great Falls Mayor, Cory Reeves, has proclaimed June 17, 2026, to be Wadsworth Pond Day!
The Wadsworth Pond Community Coalition has an afternoon of fun planned in honor of the day. The celebration will begin at 4 pm with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce, welcoming the public to use the new picnic pavilions donated by Howard and Shawna Strause.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Strauses and to the Sun River Watershed Group and all the community partners whose generosity, leadership, and dedication have made these improvements possible,” says Kevin Vining, Great Falls Parks & Recreation, Park Supervisor. “The new amenities and ongoing enhancements are creating an even better destination for the public just minutes away from town.”
The Wadsworth Pond Celebration is from 4-6 pm on June 17th and includes all-ages fun, free of charge. Scheels is providing yard games. North 40 and Electric City Disc Golf will be giving hands-on demonstrations of fly fishing and disc golf. Walleyes Unlimited will be cooking up hot dogs for the kids. Many other organizations involved with the Wadsworth Pond improvements will be on site as well. There will also be a food truck for those wishing to purchase food or drinks. Parks & Rec, FWP, and others will lead an informational tour at 5:15 to showcase recent work and upcoming projects. Raffle tickets will be on sale to help raise money for future work at the park.
In the past two years, the Wadsworth Pond Community Coalition has spearheaded improvements including a new two-vault toilet, two picnic pavilions, a second fishing dock, pond bank improvements, dog waste stations, garbage cans, and picnic tables. The Electric City Disc Golf recently added a course around the pond as well. The Coalition includes Great Falls Parks & Rec, FWP, Sun River Watershed Group, Walleyes Unlimited, Missouri River Flyfishers, Electric City Disc Golf, and many others.
