The City Commission is seeking citizens interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Advisory Commission to fill three-year terms through April 30, 2029. Currently terms for two Commission members are set to expire at the end of April. The City will accept applications from interested citizens through Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The Commission consists of nine members serving three-year terms: four are appointed by the City Commission, four are appointed by the County Commission, and a ninth member with professional architectural expertise is chosen by a simple majority of the other eight members. 

The Commission advises Cascade County, the City of Great Falls, and the Business Improvement District.  Applicants should have expertise/qualifications in the following areas: history, planning, archaeology, architecture, architectural history, historic archaeology, or other history preservation-related disciplines such as cultural geography or cultural anthropology. Ownership of property listed on the National Register of Historic Places may also qualify a person to serve on this commission.  Meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month at noon.  For more information, contact Samantha Long at 455-8550.
