Thanks to funding from the Great Falls Public Library Foundation, the Great Falls Public Library is excited to launch Kanopy for library card holders starting on July 1st!
Kanopy is a video streaming service that offers a wide selection of films, documentaries, and educational videos, accessible for free through participating public libraries and universities. It’s known for its ad-free content, including critically acclaimed movies, foreign films, and classic cinema. For access, active Library Card holders can download the app or sign up online, and they will receive 15 “tickets” per month, which can be used on films within the Kanopy library.
Kanopy also provides a “Kanopy Kids” section, with a wide range of children’s programming for kids of all ages. Those films are accessible without any ticket restrictions. Adult users can set parental controls on their account by setting a unique PIN within the app settings as well.
GFPL patrons must be 18 years old or older to sign up for a Kanopy account. The service can be accessed on PCs and Macs, and most Android/Apple Devices along with a variety of smart TVs. Kanopy is owned by the same company as Overdrive (Libby).
