The Fort Benton-based Americana duo The Lucky Valentines returns to the Library for a free show on August 13 from 7 to 9 pm as part of the Summer Music in the Library Park Series.

According to their website, “These two have been making music together since the moment they met in 2009.”

Their newest album, Losses, came out on April 21, 2023. Losses, they explain, “is our most personal record yet- full of real life grief, observation on the connectivity of all things, and the hope that comes through trials of fire.”

They have written upward of 80, and use a mix of folk melodic sensibilities, tight harmonies, and, “a whole lotta love to make sad things beautiful. Their sound could be explained as, “bottled up as Bruce Springsteen and Patty Griffin meet Shovels and Rope in a Gypsy Junkshop.”

For Tuesday’s performance, be sure to bring chairs and/or a blanket to sit on in the park.

The next performances at the library following this one are John Floridis on August 20 and Sally Jo and Friends Blue Grass on August 27.

Our sponsors this year are TDS Fiber, the Great Falls Public Library Foundation, Scheels, Montana Credit Union, Bravera Bank and First Interstate Bank. In the event of bad weather, the performances will take place in the Cordingley Room.
