The Board of Directors of the Great Falls Rescue Mission announces that Development Director Carrie Matter has been selected as the Mission’s next Executive Director. She will step into the role in early 2026, succeeding Executive Director Jim McCormick as he retires after 15 years of committed service to the Mission and the community.
McCormick, who has served in roles across Facilities, Development, and Operations, and has spent the past five years as Executive Director, plans to remain involved with the Mission through volunteer work.
“I am excited for retirement and all that lies ahead, but I also plan to stay involved with the Mission through volunteering,” McCormick said. “Carrie has many years of experience within the Mission. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the role and will keep the Great Falls Rescue Mission headed in the right direction.”
Matter has served the Mission for a combined 15 years, including direct service in the Women’s Shelter and nearly 12 years as Development Director. Her broad experience, strong community relationships, and dedication to Christ-centered ministry position her well for this leadership role.
“The Great Falls Rescue Mission and the people we have the privilege of serving every day hold a special place in my heart—they are God’s gift to us,” Matter said. “I am honored to continue serving in this new role alongside an incredible team of dedicated and talented men and women.”
Board President Gary Gratz added, “We thank Jim for his many years of service and dedication to the homeless here in north central Montana. We wish him the very best in his retirement. We also thank Carrie for her willingness to step into this position. Her many years with the organization have prepared her to lead us through the demands placed on the Mission daily.”
