On the morning of September 22, 2025, at approximately 8:50 AM, law enforcement officers were dispatched to respond to a reported family disturbance in the 2300 block of 23rd Street South. The individual who contacted 911 informed dispatchers that a 23-year-old male was physically assaulting a female victim. Upon arrival, the officers discovered that the suspect had fled the scene. Following a thorough investigation, a warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest on charges of Assault with a Weapon (felony) and Partner/Family Member Assault (misdemeanor).

Officers located the suspect at a different residence in the 2500 block of 6th St NE. As a precautionary measure and until the situation was resolved, North Middle School and Sacajawea Elementary School were placed on “shelter in place” status by SRO Kinsey and SRO Sergeant Cunningham.

The officers successfully persuaded the suspect to surrender, resulting in his apprehension without any further incidents of violence.
