On the evening of July 29th and morning or the 30th, more than 20 vehicles were vandalized in a smash-and-grab spree, primarily occurring in the area west of the river, between 2nd Ave NW and Alpine Dr. The incidents took place between midnight and 6 AM, with reports indicating that a device with a sharp tip to break the windows was likely used. Some vehicles were parked on the street, while others were in driveways. A few windows were cracked rather than shattered completely, so residents are urged to check their vehicles. Most of the crimes also involved the theft of something inside the vehicle (change, sunglasses, etc).
SPO Stergionis is leading the investigation and is reaching out to the community for assistance. They are looking for any video surveillance footage from the mapped locations, reports of suspicious activity, or anyone who may have information about the perpetrators.
Great Falls Police are not giving more information as this is an ongoing investigation.
