Branches on the Spectrum is a unique farm program dedicated to helping children, particularly those on the Autism spectrum, develop essential life and social skills. Catering to children aged 6 to 16, though open to all ages, the program provides a safe environment where participants can interact with animals such as chickens, horses, and cows, fostering a sense of responsibility and gentle care for living beings.

Children engage in hands-on activities, learning to milk cows and make butter and cheese, while also witnessing the wonders of nature, such as watching eggs hatch into chicks. This close interaction with animals instills patience and gentleness, enhancing their connection to life and those around them.

Founded by Tina Hunter, who has a deep-rooted passion for equine life, the program emerged from a desire to support local families in Cascade County, where the number of children on the spectrum continues to rise. Recognizing the need for accessible, quality life skills education, Tina created a space where kids can thrive amidst nature and learn at their own pace.

The farm also features a Sensory Garden, where children can relax and engage their senses in a calming environment. Participants learn about the life cycle by planting seeds, nurturing them into plants, and eventually using the harvest for practical projects. This not only teaches agricultural skills but also allows for a tangible connection between their efforts and the fruits of their labor.

For more information about this program, please call (406) 836-2689 or visit them at 239 Sun River Road in Great Falls, and let them know you found them in The Great Falls Gazette.
