52 years! That’s how long Pastor Risa Paul has been faithfully serving as a leader in the Church of God.
Sunday, we marked her re-retirement, and I find it hard to wrap my head around all the years of wisdom, love, and guidance she’s poured into so many lives.
As she said so perfectly: “I’m not retired, just rewired.”
I’m especially grateful for the past three years she’s spent as Interim Pastor of First Presbyterian Church Great Falls. She came to us at a critical time—sent, I believe, by God. She didn’t just love us gently; she challenged us, shaping, encouraging, and at times pushing us because she saw our potential.
Pastor Risa’s heart has always been for ministry, and while she’s stepping away from the day-to-day demands of meetings, budgets, and oversight, she’s not stepping away from her calling.
Pastor Risa is entering a new season—one where she can focus on what fills her soul, without the pressures of running daily operations of First Presbyterian Church.
She’s bought a home here in Great Falls, where she can finally enjoy the peace of being rooted in our community.
We will still hear her voice from the pulpit on Sundays for a while longer, and what a gift that is. She’s helped bring us together, fostered love in our congregation, and sparked healing. My prayer now is that we continue to grow stronger—together.
If you’ve been thinking about finding a faith community, we’d love to welcome you—whether in person or through our online presence via Solar Energy. Come worship with us and experience the spirit of connection and renewal that Pastor Risa has helped nurture.
We thank you, Pastor Risa, for everything.
