Five-year-old Evelyn is a ray of sunshine, spirited, curious, and full of the wonder every child her age deserves. However, her path to kindergarten has been overshadowed by a battle few can imagine. Diagnosed with a rare restrictive cardiomyopathy, Evelyn’s heart is working overtime, and she is now officially on the transplant list.

The journey began when a heart murmur was detected during her 18-month checkup. At first, it seemed innocent, but a mother’s intuition led to further tests, ultimately revealing the seriousness of her condition. Since then, there have been countless visits to pediatric cardiologists, frantic trips to Seattle Children’s Hospital, and emotionally exhausting hospital stays. Most recently, Evelyn faced one of her toughest challenges; she “coded” shortly after being admitted for a routine assessment. Thankfully, the swift actions of her medical team stabilized her, but the experience was terrifying for everyone involved.

Despite these daunting challenges, Evelyn’s spirit shines through. She is a brave little fighter who dreams of simply being a kid, playing with new friends, and giggling through arts and crafts in a kindergarten classroom. Her family has poured endless love and resources into her care, but the costs of ongoing travel, specialized treatments, and daily needs that aren’t fully covered by insurance have become overwhelming.

A benefit event will be hosted at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, located at 1501 9th Street South, with the objective of raising funds for a remarkable young girl and her family. This event is scheduled for March 1st, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Attendees are invited to participate in a 50/50 drawing, enjoy a taco bar, and engage in various activities for children. For those unable to attend, donations may be made via the provided QR code.
