The City of Great Falls Leaf Pickup Program in the Boulevard District concludes this week. Please note that schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failures, personnel availability, or unforeseen emergencies. Any schedule changes will be posted on https://greatfallsmt.net/news and the Park and Recreation Facebook page.

This year, there are some changes to the Leaf Pickup Schedule. The Natural Resources Division will vacuum leaves from the boulevards, while the City Street Division will sweep the streets in conjunction with the leaf pickup.

All residents in the Boulevard District are asked to Place your leaf piles as close as possible to the street side of your boulevard residence. Do not place leaves toward the sidewalk or in the street gutter. Avoid placing leaves around parked vehicles, as the new machines require a minimum of two feet of clearance around any obstacles. Do not place leaves around tree bases, signs, light poles, or any other objects.

To prevent obstructing traffic or clogging storm drains, residents should deposit leaves on the boulevard next to the curb and not in the street gutter. If leaf piles are placed in the street gutter, rain, snow, and vehicles driving over the piles will make it impossible to collect the leaves. Piles that contain branches, grass clippings, garden waste, or pet waste can damage the equipment and will not be picked up. Residents should arrange for the pickup of these items with their sanitation provider.

Please ensure all leaves are raked out to the boulevard by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. If the leaves are not ready when crews arrive, they will not return for collection later that same day.

Under normal conditions, the Forestry Division operates the annual Leaf Pickup Program with three crews. However, due to staffing shortages this year, the program will run with only two crews. Because of this change, if your residence is located on the left-hand side of a one-way street, it will not follow the posted schedule. Those addresses will receive service intermittently throughout the Leaf Pickup schedule due to equipment complexity.

Please remove vehicles from the street and avenue on your scheduled pickup day to allow for vacuuming and street sweeping. The Forestry crew operates from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
