The Montana Empowerment Center (MEC) is offering IEP Bootcamps for parents and professionals. This free training walks parents and professionals through the IEP (Individual Education Program) process from an initial evaluation for special education services through the transition out of high school as well as an overview of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), 504s, and connecting families/youth to programs and supports available from early intervention through transition services and programs after high school. MEC also invites community partners such as Part C/Birth to 3, Voc Rehab/Pre-ets, Independent Living Centers, and more to give that face-to-face connection between families and
services.
Any families with children with disabilities from ages birth to 26 and any professionals are invited to this training. Information on the IEP process about assessments, transition from high school, talking about IDEA law and The Office for Civil RIghts 504s, parent’s rights and responsibilities, as well as hearing from our community partners about supports and services available for these families.

This training was also offered in person in Havre, Townsend, Anaconda, Hamilton, Polson, and Kalispell. We will be in Lewistown on October 1 and Billings on October 2. The virtual training is planned for September 26. Parents and community partners are invited to join us for the training and share information from the MEC website or Facebook page.
