On Sunday, April 7th, Great Falls Fire Rescue’s A Platoon was quite busy. Over a 24-hour period, they responded to 15 calls for service. Out of those 15 calls, 2 were for working structure fires.
The first fire occurred at 2200 Central Ave. The call was received by dispatch at 9:20 am and GFFR crews were dispatched at 9:21 am. Engine 1 and Engine 3 arrived on the scene at 9:25 am and found a fire in the wall behind the chimney of the house. Fortunately, Engine 3 was able to quickly extinguish the fire, limiting the damage to the living room of the house. The homeowner was present at the time of the fire but remained unharmed. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
The second fire occurred at 2213 Grape Court. The call was received by dispatch at 1:25 pm and GFFR crews were dispatched at 1:26 pm. Truck 4 arrived on the scene at 1:28 pm and was informed by the homeowner that there was a small grease fire on the stove, which they had already put out. Truck 4 investigated the kitchen and confirmed that there was no extension to the walls or cabinets. The fire was contained to the stove top and didn’t cause any further damage to the house.
Apart from the two working fires, GFFR also responded to 2 lift assists, 2 false alarm activations, 6 EMS calls, 1 welfare check, 1 gas smell in a structure, and 1 water leak on that day.
