Kamryn Berry is a baking enthusiast who loves to bake delicious treats for her family and friends. “A few months ago, I decided I’d bake up some treats for Dottie, our 3-year-old Border Collie/Kelpie mix. She went nuts for them,” she explained. “I homeschool and shared the idea with my children of starting a business selling all-natural dog treats. I figured it would be a great tool for teaching math, science, and business skills. They loved the idea, and we went from there.”

Kamryn decided to create healthier dog treats that do not contain sugar, artificial ingredients, colors, or unnatural preservatives using simple ingredients. She ensures that everything she uses is natural and healthy, even her kids can taste-test them. “I still get my baking fix and I have learned some good gluten-free recipes along the way,” she replied.

Spotty Dog Treat Co. began distributing samples of their homemade dog treats in January and launched their official sales in February. In a short time, they have become a registered business with products approved by the Montana Department of Agriculture and recognized as authentic Made in Montana.

Spotty Dog Treat Co. creates “natural nibbles that hit the spot” with their mascot Dottie who loves to taste test all the treats. These treats include Bone Appétit! Peanut Butter Bones, Howl You Doin’? Peanut Butter Pretzels, By Pup-ular Demand Cheese Bones, The Ulti-mutt Cheese Pretzels, and Lone Woof Banana Oat Biscuits.

Kamryn makes the treats in small batches and dehydrates them after baking them, so they have less moisture and last a little longer. She is working on having them available in stores and is starting by having them available at Lazy Dogz in Vaughn. “That’s where Dottie goes for grooming and overnight stays,” explained Kamryn. “I have reached out to Kathy, and she’s super excited to have my products. I just have to bag them up.”
