Backyard Productions Presents Rage for Santa to Benefit Toys for Tots

Great Falls, Mont. – Backyard Productions Montana is hosting an event called Rage for Santa to benefit Toys for Tots. This is a 100% nonprofit event.
Jonas Shirley and Ryan Mullen met doing a local show with local bands and started Backyard Productions company about a year ago. “It’s our mission to try and get back some more music to the community,” explained Jonas. “We’re just very proud to announce it is for a toy drive.” There will be 11 acts from everything from metal to electric dance music for this event.

Latigo & Lace Artist Showcase – Christine McKay and David Sanford

This issue’s artists are Christine McKay and David Sanford, a couple from Cascade.

David is from Utah and Christine was raised north of Seattle. The two of them have been together since 1984 and moved to Montana in 1988.

Christine started drawing at around age three. She enjoyed watercolor, and drawing, and always loved working with charcoal. “My favorite medium is probably charcoal, but I haven’t done that for some time,” explained Christine.

Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art to Host Lecture with Jennifer Woodcock-Medicine Horse

Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art (The Square) invites the public to a free art historical lecture given by Jennifer Woodcock-Medicine Horse, PhD. on Friday, November 17th at 5:30pm.

Jennifer Woodcock-Medicine Horse will explore the history and social purposes of painted Blackfeet tipis and the transition to contemporary murals examined through Louis Still Smoking and John Isaiah Pepion’s body of work.

Military Arts Day: A Day to Celebrate and Give Thanks at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art

Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art invites the public, military active duty, veterans, and their families to Military Arts Day at The Square, Saturday, November 4th from 11am to 2pm.

To celebrate the second year of The Square’s Veteran Arts Program, this Saturday event will honor local Veterans, active-duty members, family, and friends of all branches of the military. In conjunction with the current exhibition, IL MAESTRO!: Works by Morton Levin, a Centennial Celebration, programming will include art activities, tours, a film discussion, and lunch provided by Jersey Mike’s. Hands-on art activities will connect with the processes Levin pursued to express and observe through personal and collective experience. This event is organized by Ellie Weber, Director of Education, in collaboration with Nicole Maria Evans, Curator of Exhibitions and Collections to coincide with IL MAESTRO!: Works by Morton Levin, a Centennial Celebration.

This week’s artist is Jessie Lesofski who lives in Pendroy, Mt.
Jessie has been making jewelry for about 17 years now. She started becoming interested in jewelry when her daughter was about ten years old. Her daughter, Mary, was so fascinated by beads and jewelry and Jessie wanted to show her support in any way.
