Serving on a City board or commission is a great way to become involved in local government. The following City boards and commissions have current openings.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT/APPEALS
The City Commission is seeking applications for the Board of Adjustment/Appeals for a three-year term beginning October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2027. Terms for two current Board members are set to expire at the end of September.
The Board hears and decides appeals regarding zoning, housing, and building codes and ordinances; hears and decides requests for variances from standards set forth in zoning ordinances; and hears and decides all other matters referred to the Board regarding zoning, housing, and building ordinances. This Board also the body to hear and decide appeals when it is specifically identified to do so by Ordinance or Resolution. Members must be residents of the City of Great Falls, and should be qualified by experience or training in construction matters. Candidates with architecture or design backgrounds would be preferable but not required. The Board meets on demand on the first Thursday of the month at 3:00 p.m.

PLANNING ADVISORY BOARD
The City Commission is seeking applications for the Great Falls Planning Advisory Board. The appointees will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2025 and run through December 31, 2027. Terms for three board members are set to expire at the end of December. Applicants must reside within the City limits.
The City Planning Advisory Board is a seven-member Board that advises the City Commission on many aspects of Great Falls area growth and development including amendments to the Growth Plan, zoning, land subdivision, annexation, transportation planning, planning roadway improvements, and related general planning issues.
The Board meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 3:00 p.m. For more information contact PCD Director, Brock Cherry at 406-455-8530. Application deadline is October 31, 2024, by 5:00 p.m.
