Great Falls is about to boogie, shimmy, and stroll its way into the holiday season… 70s style. This year’s theme, “A Groovy Little Christmas,” brings a retro vibe, bright lights, and all the magic that makes living here feel special.

31st Annual Parade of Lights — Saturday, November 29th, 6:00 pm

There’s nothing like bundling up, grabbing the kids, and heading downtown as Central Avenue transforms into a glowing wonderland. The Parade of Lights is a Great Falls staple! Local businesses, community groups, and clubs create their own holiday festive floats, each brighter and more creative than the last. Every float feels like a little piece of our town’s personality on display.

As the parade ends, Santa himself joins the fun and helps light the official downtown Christmas tree in front of the Civic Center, a moment that still hits with pure childlike wonder, no matter your age.

42nd Annual Christmas Stroll — Friday, December 5th, 5:00–9:00 pm

If the Parade of Lights is quick, bright excitement, the Christmas Stroll is the long, cozy, slow-burn version, the one everyone marks on their yearly calendars.

Central Avenue shuts down completely and becomes a pedestrian walkway filled with local vendors, booths, small-business specials, music, performers & photo ops, drinks, treats & food trucks.

You can wander without rushing, bump into neighbors, do some holiday shopping, and let the kids enjoy all the little activities scattered throughout downtown. It’s the kind of event where you feel the whole town shows up in the best way.

And because it’s Great Falls, the prizes are incredible. Purchasing a $5 Stroll Button enters you to win a Downtown Staycation with meals, experiences, and gifts from local businesses like Hotel Arvon, Sip ’n Dip, Fire Pizza, Magpie, The Newberry, Broke Axe Throwing, and more. It’s truly one of the coolest community giveaways of the season.

Why These Events Matter To Us!

In a time where everything feels go-go-go, these two traditions slow us down and pull us back together. They remind us that small towns shine brightest during the holidays.

So grab your coat, dust off your bell-bottoms and sequins, and come celebrate a Groovy Little Christmas in downtown Great Falls. Whether you’re here for the lights, the stroll, the cocoa, or the community, there’s something special waiting for you.
