Rogue Brownies emerged from the profound love of a mother grappling with a daunting reality. In 2019, Jenny, a single mother of four, confronted an incredibly challenging decision. Her son, Maxwell, is afflicted with Coffin-Siris syndrome, which results in daily seizures, near-total blindness and deafness, and significant mobility challenges.
Additionally, Jenny’s daughter faces her own difficulties, as her mobility has become increasingly uncertain. They attend weekly medical appointments to ascertain the cause of her pain and weakness.
A traditional job was not viable for Jenny, as Maxwell is unable to communicate his needs. She assumed the roles of his voice, his caretaker, and his unwavering advocate. In pursuit of creating a future for her children on her own terms, Jenny adapted her family’s brownie recipe, which marked the inception of Rogue Brownies.
The inclusion of edible gold on select brownies serves as a representation of joyous defiance. Jenny made the resolute choice to reject the notion that self-worth is contingent upon perpetual sacrifice. For her, gold symbolizes unapologetic joy.
In early 2024, her sister Karyl officially joined her efforts, transforming Rogue Brownies into a certified commercial bakery recognized as ‘Made in Montana.’
A significant opportunity presented itself through collaboration with a BYU-Idaho intern team, a project submitted by Karyl that provided essential support in establishing the operational framework for Rogue Brownies.
Previously known as Glamma’s Brownies, the business now operates from a community kitchen and accepts bulk orders and wholesale requests. The brownies, which were unintentionally modified, yield a distinctly fudgy texture. They are available exclusively through an online store or at select events.
