The Montana Highway Patrol troopers conducted a comprehensive interdiction operation in Butte from October 7th to 14th, aimed at addressing crime and eliminating illicit drugs from the community.

Throughout this operation, MHP officers collaborated with the United States Border Patrol and the Air National Guard Counterdrug aviation unit. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 25 grams of fentanyl powder, 11 pounds of methamphetamine, 260 pounds of marijuana, and over $75,000 in illicit cash, and made a total of 34 arrests.

“Montana is no place for illegal activity,” stated Col. Kurt Sager in a press release. “I am proud of the work that our troopers do day in and day out to get drugs and criminals off our streets to keep our communities safe. We couldn’t do it without the help of our partner agencies.”

Additionally, during the previous weekend, the MHP’s Strategic Enforcement Traffic Team (SETT) operated in Missoula to address instances of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. This operation involved 260 traffic stops, resulting in 7 arrests, the issuance of 63 speeding citations, and 26 violations related to seatbelt use.
