
On October 20th, Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to a kitchen fire at 1430 8th Ave NW. The fire was reported to the dispatch center at 6:39 PM, and Truck 2 was the first unit to arrive on the scene at 6:44 PM.
Upon arrival, Truck 2 found smoke coming from the residence, but all occupants and pets had safely evacuated the house. The firefighters entered the home and quickly extinguished the fire. The kitchen sustained heavy damage, and there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the residence.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental; it occurred when the stove was inadvertently turned on while various items were left on the stovetop. The occupant of the residence has been put in contact with the American Red Cross for assistance.
