The Second Annual Block Kids Program was conducted on September 27th at the Paris Gibson Education Center, located at 2400 Central Avenue. This national building competition is designed to introduce students in grades K-6 to the construction industry, thereby fostering awareness and interest in future careers within this essential sector.

Participants were encouraged to utilize 75 to 100 blocks to construct a design related to the construction industry within a time frame of one hour. Projects were evaluated based on overall design, conceptualization, construction quality, and an oral presentation regarding their build. The participant selected as the winner from the NAWIC Montana Chapter #387 will advance to the regional semi-finals, with the potential to compete at the national level.

“We are very passionate about this because we have high hopes in reaching out to our younger generation and showing them that building is amazing,” explained Christina Burningham. “And if they can think of ways to work with building blocks, then imagine what they can do when they are older. Our winner built a whole construction site, to the digging site, and the equipment that was used, and explained it very well.”
