On Monday, September 1st, at approximately 4:00 pm, crews from Great Falls Fire Rescue were dispatched to 2 Prospect Drive in response to a reported structure fire.

Crews arrived on the scene within 3 minutes to find the attached garage fully engulfed in flames, and the fire extending into the attic space of the house.

The location of 2 Prospect Drive at the end of a dead-end road complicated the positioning of the GFFR apparatus for effective fire suppression efforts. Engine 1 successfully positioned itself in front of the house and commenced an attack on the fire through the open garage door. As the flames spread to the attic area, GFFR personnel were required to perform extensive overhaul operations in both the garage and the living room. Currently, the structure is deemed uninhabitable, and all utilities have been turned off.

According to reports, the occupant of the home was performing maintenance on a boat motor in the garage when a spark ignited gasoline vapors, initiating the fire. The individual sustained burn injuries while attempting to extinguish the flames and was transported to Benefis East for medical evaluation. The current status of his injuries remains unknown.

There were no reported injuries to GFFR personnel, and no pets were harmed during the incident.
