Effective immediately, the City of Great Falls, in coordination with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, is announcing the permanent closure of public access to West Bank Park and the Rivers Edge Trail at the 4th St NE rail crossing, which is situated between Northwest Pipe Fittings and General Distributing.
The decision to enforce this closure stems from safety concerns related to the anticipated expansion of rail operations in the Calumet Refining area. This expansion is expected to significantly increase rail traffic in the vicinity, posing a higher risk to public safety.
Despite this closure, public access to West Bank Park will still be available from 3rd Ave NW, which is located between Cowboys Bar and Tasty Hot Pot.
