On August 25th, Great Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a fire in a shed located at 601 25th Ave NE. Truck 2 was the first unit to arrive on the scene at 5:26 PM. Upon arrival, firefighters from Truck 2 found all occupants of the house safely outside. The shed was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire had spread to the attic of the garage, posing a threat to the main dwelling.

Firefighters from Truck 2 quickly extinguished the flames in the shed and on the exterior of the garage. Meanwhile, additional crews entered the house to put out the fire in the attic. Their prompt response enabled them to gain control of the fire in about 10 minutes, minimizing damage to the home.

The fire caused extensive damage to the garage’s exterior and resulted in smoke damage throughout the house. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Fortunately, the family was able to stay with friends and relatives for the night.

Fire departments from the Montana Air National Guard and Malmstrom Air Force Base provided support to backfill GFFR Stations 3 and 4 while off-duty GFFR staff returned to work, ensuring that fire protection was maintained for the city.
