On Wednesday, July 9th, Great Falls Fire Rescue was called to the scene on 2nd Ave NW. During excavation efforts to elevate water in the basement of a residence, contractors inadvertently struck a gas line. Although the property experienced some heat damage to its exterior, it did not catch fire. The only combustion observed was from gas venting from the damaged line. The Great Falls Fire Rescue team responded quickly by spraying water on the exterior of the house to protect it from potential flames until Northwestern Energy arrived to securely cap the gas line in the yard.
