According to reports, in the early hours of July 13th, around 2:30 AM, 911 dispatchers received a call reporting a shooting at 2000 10th Ave S. Officers promptly arrived at the scene and found a group of individuals, including a male with a gunshot wound to the head. Unfortunately, the injured person, later identified as Jackson Molnar, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Detectives and members of the Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office were dispatched to assist with the investigation. Suspect, Ryan Van Nguyen, 19, was taken into custody and has since been charged with negligent homicide in connection with Molnar’s death. Nguyen is confirmed to be an active duty airman with Malmstrom Air Force Base.

The incident is believed to have occurred in the Target parking lot, where officers discovered Molnar lying between parked vehicles. Upon further investigation, it was noted that alcoholic beverages were present both inside and outside the vehicles at the scene, indicating that the individuals involved had been drinking.

The Great Falls Police announced that, due to the active nature of the investigation, additional details have not been released at this time. The Great Falls Gazette will update more when more information is available.
