Spark! Children’s Museum of Montana is relocating to a new, permanent location at 201 2nd Avenue South in Great Falls, with plans to reopen in Fall 2025 or Winter 2026. “Our mission is to spark the joy of learning,” said Board President Sarah Lautenschlager in a press release. “Our dedicated board and staff have been working nonstop since our closure to reopen in a sustainable location to continue to serve our area’s children and families as we have done for more than 25 years.”

Originally established in 1997 as the Children’s Museum of Montana, Spark! came to fruition through the efforts of local parents and the Junior League, with the City of Great Falls supporting the initiative by offering an affordable lease on a previously vacant warehouse. After ceasing operations at its former location at 22 Railroad Square due to cost concerns, Spark! explored over 12 properties to find a new site that prioritizes safety and accessibility.

The permitting process is already underway, and construction is set to begin this summer. Meanwhile, Spark! is hosting a series of free pop-up events around the community during the summer, encouraging the public to follow their Facebook page for updates. The museum is also in the process of searching for an Executive Director to lead its new phase and is planning to build its staff as the reopening date approaches.
