
The Great Falls Electric have improved to 18-2 overall this season with both losses coming on the road to the Wenatchee (WA) Bighorns.
On Friday evening, Great Falls returned to the friendly confines of Swarthout FIeldhouse on the campus of Great Falls High School after two weeks away (six games) and simply outplayed the last place Willamette Valley (OR) Jaguars in all facets of the game earning a convincing 160-107 win. Four players managed to score a combined 106 points led by Great Falls’ KD Moore with 40 points while the trio of Lyle Hexom, Brandon Jones, and Terry “TJ” Maston Jr. acquiring a total of 76 in the win.
During Saturday’s performance on the court, Great Falls did not face much competition as they easily downed the Willamette Valley Jaguars (1-15), 161-109 in Great Falls. Brandon Jones and KD Moore carried the Electric to victory with their 34 and 33 points, respectively. Lyle Hexom and Dexter Williams Jr. each tallied 13 rebounds apiece and Hexom and Williams also combined for 21 of the team’s 40 assists.
Jaguars power forward Tayvion Johnson led his squad with 38 points on 17-for-24 shooting in 32 minutes of action. Teammates Troy Mix Jr. and Adrian “Ace” Stevens teamed up for 33 points.
Great Falls came out with a 9-2 lead two minutes into the opening quarter before the visiting team called a timeout to regroup. KD Moore, Dexter Williams Jr., and Antwaan Cushingberry each provided three points during that time span. Three minutes later, Terry “TJ” Maston Jr. increased the lead to 23-6. Great Falls outshot Willamette Valley 18-13 the rest of the way highlighted by a layup from KD Moore with Great Falls topping their Oregon counterparts, 41-19 heading into the second quarter.
Great Falls continued to build on their lead reaching 74 points by halftime and limiting the Jaguars to 48.
Great Falls let the points pile up in the third period as they led 96-62 five minutes into the second half. KD Moore, Dexter Williams Jr., Antwaan Cushingberry, and Lyle Hexom produced the first 22 points. A timeout was called by Great Falls so they could get a variety of substitutions in with 3:41 remaining with the Electric cruising 107-71. Antwaan Cushingberry scored a three pointer from the corner to end the third quarter.
The fourth quarter started with the host team taking advantage of some missed opportunities by Willamette Valley. The Electric accounted for eight of the first twelve points (127-83) that were scored during the first two minutes. Tayvion Johnson added the 100th point for the Jaguars with 2:55 remaining but they were down 150-100. Great Falls won their fourth straight game after defeating the Wenatchee (WA) Bighorns and Seattle Super Hawks in addition to Friday’s home win against the Jaguars.
