
The Maiden Montana Women’s Disc Golf Tournament held this year successfully assembled 17 female participants across various skill levels for an engaging day of competition. Players competed in 11 distinct divisions, including one in FA 70, two in FA 50, and four in Junior divisions.
Congratulations are extended to the winners of each division: Sophia Mikulecky in FJ 12, Taylyn Collins in FJ 15, Hannah Adams in FJ 18, Bette Miller in FA 70, Heather Renfro in FA 50, Adria Mikulecky in FA 40, Olivia Downs in FA 4, Katie Lamping in FA 3, Kaitlynn Lesofski in FA 2, and Carrie Hayes in FA 1.
The successful execution of the event was made possible through the generous support of numerous sponsors. Raffle items were primarily sourced from women-owned or women-managed businesses located in Great Falls, alongside contributions from MVP Discs and SickBirdie!, both organizations dedicated to the advancement of the sport among women and children.
Special recognition to the following businesses that contributed, including Sign Gypsies of Cascade County, Growing Pines & Co., IVOVI Designs, Evelyn Hilt Mary Kay Consultant, Jody Rempel of Calico Rodeo, Branded Ink Tattoo Studio, Big Horn Outdoor Specialists, Studio Montage, Grae & Co., A Healthy Horizon, Life In Bloom Floral & Gifts Boutique, Scheels of Great Falls, All The Things Charcuterie, and Croxford Funeral Home.
The tournament featured a donation and raffle event that garnered essential items for the YWCA Mercy Home. Participants collectively contributed substantial donations, including 11 packages of diapers, 11 packages of toilet paper, 4 packages of Feminine Hygiene products, lots of clothing for men, women, and children, 1 canister of baby formula, assorted non-perishable food items, and 6 bottles of cleaning supplies/Clorox/laundry detergent items.
The first round commenced at 9:05 AM at Warden Park Disc Golf Course. The Juniors and FA50, as well as FA70, played a 13-hole layout, while all other FA divisions played a 16-hole layout.
By 11:30 AM, all players had completed their initial rounds and enjoyed a lunch comprised of personal protein boxes from All The Things Charcuterie. The second round began at 1:10 PM at Silver Thorn Disc Golf Course. Again, the Juniors and FA50, FA 70 played a modified layout of 13 holes while the other FA divisions played a20-holee layout.
Next year the event will be sanctioned as part of the PDGA’s Women’s Global Event. This is a world-wide weekend of tournaments that takes place every other year and allows women all over the world to compete against each other on thousands of different courses; they use propagators with a rating of 800 or higher to establish a curve on each course layout and with this you are able to see your worldwide standing. “Our Maiden Montana Tournament in 2024 was the first ever all women’s WGE event in Montana and I am committed to making 2026 just as fun and fulfilling as these past two events have been” stated Maggie Kent, Co-Founder of Electric City Disc Golf Club.
