
The Great Falls Electric (17-2) is making it look easy on the court as they sailed by the Willamette Valley Jaguars (1-14) on Friday night, 160-107 as the home fans for Great Falls got to see their team for the first time in a month.
KD Moore scored 40 points while Lyle Hexom, Brandon Jones, and Terry “TJ’ Maston, Jr. teamed up for 76 points as the Electri won for the 17th time in 19 games this season. Hexom also had 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. Newcomer Jeremy Harris made his debut in front of the home crowd after joining the squad last weekend by scoring 13 points, grabbing 11 boards, and making four steals. Antwaan Cushingberry and Dexter Williams Jr. led the team in assists with 11 apiece.
The sponsors of the night included Benefis Health System and Military Night that included the Montana Air National Guard and Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls. All adult tickets from Benefis employees amd active and retired military members were discounted to $10.00 each.
The Jaguars led 12-11 to open up the first quarter before Lyle Hexom’s layup with 6:31 left gave the Electric their first lead of the night (13-12). The quarter was close before Great Falls jumped ahead 37-30 at the end of the first twelve minutes. Terry “TJ” Maston Jr. scored the final basket for the Electric with seven seconds to go.
Great Falls’ offense hit their stride as they began the second quarter on a 16-0 run including nine points by KD Moore, five points by TJ Maston Jr. and a basket by Dexter Williams Jr. Willamette Valley’s Jusci Thompson stopped the run with his layup to cut their deficit to 53-32 with under eight minutes remaining. Great Falls built a 74-48 lead that was capped off by a long distance trey from Lyle Hexom at halftime. Cyaron Williams added the final basket for the Jaguars before time expired.
Tayvion Johnson (Wilamette Valley) and Dexter Williams Jr. (Great Falls) traded baskets to begin the third quarter. The Jaguars could not prevent the home team from capitalizing on turnovers that resulted in many fast break opportunities. Antwaan Cushingberry’s layup gave the Electric their largest lead at 42 points (103-61) with four minutes shown on the game clock. The Electric showed why they are one of the top teams in The Basketball League (TBL) as they increased the lead to 50 points (120-70) on a Lyle Hexom layup to end the quarter.
The offensive attack by the Electric was too much to over come for the Willamette Valley Jaguars in the fourth quarter. Great Falls won 160-107.
