The #1 Great Falls Electric (8-0) entered the first weekend of April ready to keep their undefeated streak alive as they faced the Seattle Super Hawks (6-2), who are currently right behind the Electric in the Pacific Northwest Division of the West Conference in The Basketball League (TBL).
Seattle started the season in early March with four straight victories against Wenatchee (Bighorns), Salem (Capitals), and Vancouver (Volcanoes) twice before suffering their first setback of the season on March 22nd road loss to Wenatchee (116-104). The Super Hawks closed out the month of March with wins over Salem and Vancouver.
Meanwhile, Great Falls started off the 2025 TBL schedule at their home venue, Great Falls High School’s Swarthout FIeldhouse with back-to-back vins over the Wenatchee (WA) Bighorns before a trio or road wins against the Salem (OR) Capitals, Vancouver (WA) Volcanoes and the Corvallis, Oregon based Willamette Valley Jaguars. Two weeks ago, the Electric prevailed over the Capitals in their third and fourth home dates of the season.
KD Moore erupted for 33 points on 13-for-21 shooting along with going 3-for-4 from behind the arc and Dexter Willilams Jr. topped the Great Falls Electric with 10 rebounds as the top-ranked Great Falls Electric stopped the #2 Seattle Super Hawks, 121-112 during Friday’s TBL action at Grover Cleveland High School in Seattle, Washington. Nahson George (26 points) and Elijah Hardy (24 points) led the way for Seattle.
Local fans of the Electric will remember Brandon Jamar, who suited up with the inaugural Great Falls Electric team last season, is now a member of the Super Hawks. He played nine minutes registering 3 boards and one assist and no points scored.
KD Moore helped Great Falls to a 12-7 lead with 6:43 remaining in the first quarter on a layup. After a timeout, Great Falls went on a 6-1 run highlighted by baskets by two layups and two free throws from Electric big man, Lyle Hexom. Seattle closed the gap and led 26-25 after the first twelve minutes on a Jamaal Thomas layup with eight seconds remaining.
Seattle led by as many as seven points (34-27) in the second quarter before the visiting Montana team went on a 7-0 run to even the score at 34-34. Great Falls would enjoy the lead for the next five minutes before a dunk by Seattle’s Elijah Hardy put the Home team in front (50-48) with two minutes left before halftime. It would be Great Falls leading at the half (52-51) as Antwaan Cushinberry, KD Moore and Tremont Robinson-White each contributing baskets for head coach Steve Keller’s squad.
In the third quarter, the Electric built a 72-57 lead four minutes into the frame. Seattle’s offense did not go away and cut the Electric’s lead to five (84-79) as the fourth and final quarter started.
RayQuan Evans, a former Billings Skyview hoop player and Florida State standout, scored back-to-back layups to begin the fourth stanza. Evans was featured on MTN’s feature story this week about his professional career. Great Falls continued their dominance in the last quarter as they never trailed, winning 121-112. TJ Maston, Jr. scored the last points for Great Falls with a dunk and then Seattle’s Malik Montoya made a layup to end the contest.
