Raegan Breeden founded Play n Learn Academy 28 years ago. What began as an in-home daycare has now expanded to include two facilities. One facility serves as a pre-K center, while the larger building, constructed in 2018, has been operational for six years. Currently, Play n Learn Academy has an enrollment of approximately 160 children across both facilities.
The pre-K facility, located at 5115 3rd Avenue South, accommodates children aged 3½ to 4 years, with a current enrollment of 52 children. The larger facility at 4241 2nd Avenue serves infants and toddlers aged zero to three years, with a maximum capacity of around 100.
“Right now, we have a pretty big waitlist,” explained Shelby Alexander, who has been with Play n Learn for six years. “All of our classrooms are full. We have quite a few Air Force families. If they get orders and they leave, that generally opens up spots, and a lot of our children at a time graduate and go to kindergarten.”
Play n Learn Academy operates from Monday through Friday, observing all major holidays, with business hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The academy currently employs 35 individuals across both facilities. The majority of staff members hold relevant credentials, and all lead teachers either possess or are pursuing their Child Development (CD) degrees.
“I have an amazing group of people that help me, and we wouldn’t be here without their dedication, their commitment and all their hard work,” explained Raegan.
