On January 6, 2025, Mineral County Dispatch received a call reporting a stabbing in St. Regis. The reporting party stated that there were 3 victims with stab wounds.

Upon my arrival on the scene, I made contact with an adult victim who had visible wounds and a juvenile victim who had sustained life-threatening injuries. The adult victim informed me a third victim was inside the residence and was believed to be deceased.  The suspect was also still inside the residence.

A deputy arrived and we made entry into the residence, locating the male victim and the suspect. The suspect did not cooperate with commands, but he was subsequently taken to the ground and apprehended without further incident. The suspect was transported to the Mineral County Detention Center where he remains in custody.

EMS arrived and started to triage the victims. The male victim inside the residence was still alive but had life-threatening injuries. All three victims were transported by ambulance. The two critical patients were transported to Missoula, while one is in stable condition at Mineral Community Hospital.

The Montana Department of Criminal Investigations was called to assist Mineral County with the crime scene.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this tragic time.
