A few months ago I wrote an article about the dangers of extremism. I pointed out that Hitler did not seize power in Germany, he was elected by the people. Our new right-wing government was elected by the people. Fairly and democratically. The voice of the people spoke. This time we will have a peaceful transition of power. Nobody will storm the capital because they did not like the results.
We should bear in mind time tested guidance from the past:
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse. Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little”. Edmund Burke, 1729-1797
“According to the guidance of reason, of two things that are good, we shall follow the greater good, and of two evils, follow the less”. Baruch Spinoza, 1634-1677
