Shirley Tippetts Sand passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 13, 2024, from Parkinson’s disease. A Graveside Service is planned for Monday, November 18, 2024, in the Sun River Cemetery at 1PM.
Shirley and her identical twin sister Sharon were born on May 25, 1939, in Great Falls, Montana to Blake and Maurine Tippetts where they were raised on the Family Ranch on the Ashuelot bench. Shirley and Sharon graduated from Simms high school where their classmates could only tell them apart by the color of the laces in their Oxfords. They might have switched them out on occasion just for fun.
Shirley married Charles Sand of Craig, Montana, together they had three children; Ron, Shari and Gina, whom they raised them in the Sun River Valley. Their marriage eventually ended, and she later married Arnie Marvin Sand Junior (no relation). She lovingly welcomed his sons, Roger and Rodney to the fold.
They had many wonderful adventures and years together until Arne’s passing in 2002. Shirley was a lifelong member of the Sun Valley Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an example of selflessness, love, and giving all her life. She was an accomplished artist who painted the western landscape and the people she loved so much. She had a gift for teaching and shared her talents with many devoted students throughout the years. Shirley had passion for gardening which led to a thriving greenhouse business on her property.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arne M. Sand Jr.; and his son Rodney Sand; her parents Blake and Maurine Tippetts and sister Valeen Avery.
Shirley is survived by her son Ron (Lori) Sand of Arizona; daughters Sherry (Mark Gordon) Wonders of Montana, Gina (Scott) Alder of Oregon; her siblings twin sister Sharon Rammell of Montana, Linda Tippetts of Montana, Allen (Candy) Tippetts of Utah and Julie (Jeff Walker) Tippetts of Montana; along with her 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren who were dearly loved.
This world was a better place because of her, Heaven received a very special angel!
