The Luminaria Walk first began in 1993 with 200 Luminarias illuminating the trail near the caboose. This first annual event was sponsored by the River’s Edge Trail, with the primary aim to honor and celebrate the exceptional River’s Edge Trail in Great Falls, Montana. This year the event will take place on Friday, August 23rd from 7 pm to 11 pm.

During the Luminaria Walk on the River’s Edge Trail, visitors can expect to be greeted by over 1,500 luminaries adorning the trail from West Bank Park, across Weissman Bridge, and along the river to the historic 10th Street Bridge. This is a free and inclusive event suitable for families. Guests can also look forward to a variety of food trucks at West Bank Park and the 10th Street Bridge entrance. Additionally, service groups will be selling treats, and musicians and singers will be strategically positioned along the route to provide entertainment.

It is important to note that due to the popularity of the event, there will be a significant number of attendees on the trail. For the safety and comfort of all participants, dog owners are kindly reminded to ensure that their pets are leashed and that any waste is properly disposed of.

The Luminaria Walk is a wonderful, free, and family-friendly occasion that aims to bring the community together to appreciate the scenic trail while enjoying the offerings of food and local music along the way.
